Necessary Documents
To obtain a visa the following documents should be submitted the Russian Embassy or Consulate:
Russian Tourist Visa
A passport with at least one clear page for a visa that is valid not less than one month after the date of your departure from Russia or (in some cases) a photocopy of the passport's vital information pages showing Name, Birth Date, Passport Number, Expiration Date.
A completed and signed visa application form (questionnaire) one per person available at the Consulate.
Passport size & type photos of the applicant (one of them should be stapled to the marked space at the upper right-hand corner of the application form).
Official invitation (that is a Land Voucher & Confirmation of hotel arrangements) from a hosting authorized Russian travel company, showing reference number and confirmation number for the visa.
Russian Business Visa
A passport with at least one clear page for a visa that is valid not less than one month after the date of your departure from Russia or (in some cases) a photocopy of the passport's vital information pages showing Name, Birth Date, Passport Number, Expiration Date. Diplomatic passport holders should submit both copies of the passport pages that contain personal data of the bearer and original passport.
A completed and signed visa application form (one per person) available at the Consulate
Passport size & type photos of the applicant (one of them should be stapled to the marked space at the upper right-hand corner of the application form).
For stay exceeding 3 months, or multi entry visa, a HIV test required
Official invitation from an organization authorized to invite business visitors to Russia. The Invitation to Russia must be from the Russian Foreign Ministry or its regional representatives; The Ministry of Interior or its local offices; or other authorized Russian Agencies. The letter must contain: official seal and legal address of the agency, signature and name of official authorized to invite foreigners to Russia. The Embassy reserves the right to request the original invitation
A cover letter from your company (or from yourself if you are traveling individually) with information about the traveler, destination, terms and purpose of the trip.
Russian Private and Homestay Visa
A passport with at least one clear page for a visa that is valid not less than one month after the date of your departure from Russia or (in some cases) a photocopy of the passport's vital information pages showing Name, Birth Date, Passport Number, Expiration Date. Diplomatic passport holders should submit both copies of the passport pages that contain personal data of the bearer and original passport.

Visa entitlement certificate (Izveshenie) your relatives or friends in Russia should obtain from the local OVIR in Russia and send original certificate to your address.
Russian Transit Visa
A passport with at least one clear page for a visa that is valid not less than one month after the date of your departure from Russia or (in some cases) a photocopy of the passport's vital information pages showing Name, Birth Date, Passport Number, Expiration Date. Diplomatic passport holders should submit both copies of the passport pages that contain personal data of the bearer and original passport.
