One of the stations of Moskovsko-Petrogradskaya Linia - the second line of Petersburg metro, constructed in 1961, that run from northern city parts (Vyborgsky District) to the southern districts (Moskovsky District and Kupchino). 27,9 km long, the Linia which is assigned Blue on the map consists of 17 station - Prospect Prosveshenia, Ozerki, Ydelnaya, Pionerskaya, Chernaya Rechka, Petrogradskaya, Gorkovskaya, Nevsky Prospect, Sennaya Ploschad, Tekhnologichesky Institut, Frunzenskaya, Moskovskie Vorota, Electrosila, Park Pobedy, Moskovskaya, Zvezdnaya, Kupchino. The Gorkovskaya station, located not far from Peter-and-Paul Fortress, was built in 1963 according to the project of architects S.I.Evdokimov, N.I.Bashnin, A.P.Izoitko in the park near the Kamennoostrovsky prospect and Kronverksky prospect, where the famous Russian writer A.M.Gorky used to live hence the name of the station.
