One of the stations of Nevsko-Vasileostrovskaya Linia - the shortest line of Petersburg metro (20,6 km) that, running under the Nevsky prospect, comes from the western city part (Vasileostrovsky District) to the south-western part of the city (Nevsky District). The Line, which is assigned Green on the map, consists of 10 stations of functional design, 6 of them built on the “horizontal lift” principle - Primorskaya, Vasileostrovskaya, Gostiny Dvor, Mayakovskaya, Ploschad Alexandra Nevskogo I, Lomonosovskaya, Elizarovskaya, Proletarskaya, Obuhovo, Rybatskoe. Constructed according to the “horizontal lift” principle, Lomonosovskaya station was constructed in 1970 on the junction of Babushkina Street and Polyarnikov Street according to the project of architects A.Macheret, L.S.Chupina, A.S.Getskin, V.P.Shuvalova. The station bear the name of renowned Russian scientist Michael Lomonosov.
